Well, so much for weekly updating....

School goes well. Lots of work already, including a seven page practical report. Been going through a lot of unnecessary complications outside of school though, which fortunately isn't taking a toll on schoolwork.

Got a math assignment to work on too, actually. Just a weekend assignment, but it's only half-done, and due tomorrow. I'm trying to gather motivation to work on that.

Sports day is coming up this week. I haven't really signed up to much, so it probably will just be a sidelines day, but I guess it means I've got a day where I can collect my thoughts and discuss them with friends.

The moving out I've been supposed to be doing since last year still isn't going at all. I only hear from my brother when he wants me to sign a form, not when he's looking at houses or anything. I'm really getting close to the "screw this, i don't care" stage, and just saying no to moving out. My main reason for having wanted to move is gone, anyway, so it feels like I'm only moving because I'm being asked to.

Either way, I'm still intending to move to the Eastern coast next year. I haven't asked yet, but I'm pretty sure a friend I know would be able to put me up for a month or so, at least until I can get up on my own feet and get my own place. Adelaide is definitely not a place I want to spend any more time in than I need to, let alone live in for much longer (honestly, yr12 is all that's keeping me here these days...).

Theat's about all that's been floating about my head, though. I probably should get to work on that math assignment before I end up putting it off too late...

So, I realise it's late to make New Year's Resolutions, but still, who needs tradition? Seeing as it is a fresh start to a new year, and I realise what changes I need to make in life, I thought I'd put them to text so I can check them from time to time and ensure that I keep to them.
  • Get back into Maths until I can work at the same level I used to
  • Maintain a healthy social life around school
  • Ensure not to fall into the same type of relationship I've been in for the last seven months
  •  Expand my horizons in music, art, and food
  • Pick up a good camera, and get into photography as a more advanced hobby
  • Resume my sketching on A4 paper
  • Learn traditional inking methods
  • Learn to digitally colour
  • Learn from past experiences, and not let them dictate my future
  • Get into writing, including trying to update here weekly or so
  • Move over to Gentoo so I can learn more about Linux
More to come as I think about them.

So, I've had this thing for nearly two years, and I've never posted to it. Active blogger ahoy.

Wellp, I guess that calls for some kind of introduction, or some kind of post to identify myself to anyone who stumbles across this page.

So firstly, the major details: I'm an eighteen year-old homosexual male, with a lot of interest in webcultures and technology, though I come across as more artistic than nerdy/geeky.

My further interests span psychology, nanotechnology, and medical technology, and I'd definitely like to learn more about each, and possibly pursue a career in one. However, I'm also highly interested in artistic work, and enjoy the mediums of photography, 3D design, digital painting, traditional sketching, writing and many more. For this reason, I often carry a sketchbook around with me (even if I barely show it), as well as a folio to present as a diversionary tactic.

Among my many talents and quirks, the most interesting would be my strange ability to pick up pieces of information I shouldn't know (and often don't want to), coupled in with my ability to narrow in on a persons biggest insecurities upon only knowing them for a few weeks. This talent goes well with my hobby of writing, and my expository and controversial writing styles have led to several friends and English teachers encouraging me to pursue a career in Journalism.

So all this leads me to the reason I'm making this post in the first place. I'd like to get into writing, and no doubt like many others, I convey my thoughts a lot better when I can type them out, go back and edit as I type, and work out exactly what I want to say in a clear manner.

2009 is going to be a year of major change for me, and I intend to convey that by picking up and dropping hobbies and settling with those I love. So this journal shall be a way of chronicalling the changes I go through, as well as a place to express my feelings on situations and events going on in life and media.
